Making frame buttons

Button art on the cheap.

I love kitschy little home decor items/wall hangings, because a little color goes a long way to spice up a room. ESPECIALLY when you live in an apartment (hello Mod Podge Command Central) and you can't paint the walls. I have a love affair with buttons; I would marry them if I could. I decided to spice up a boring wall in my room with this cute little piece, incorporating my very favorite buttons and, of course, Mod Podge. Here's how to make it.

14 fingerprint pendant
You probably have a handprint of your little
one recorded in plaster somewhere but it’s not
exactly something that you can carry with you.
With this fingerprint pendant, you can create a
precious keepsake as well as a one-of-a-kind
piece of jewelry!

Raffia Christmas Tree Ornament

Raffia Christmas Tree Ornament

Raffia is a fiber from the giant leaves of a palm tree found in Madagascar. The raffia used in these ornaments is Rayon.  It is available through Nashville Wraps. Raffia Ribbon, in shiny pearlized colors on 100 yard rolls, is made from convenient rayon for elegant gift packaging. So you can crochet with the raffia and also use left overs for packages.
Consider crocheting these designs in natural raffia for a more eco-friendly version.

Light Up a Table With Floating Candles

There's something magical about fire dancing on water. Reflected in the liquid's shimmering surface, the flickers of a candle's flame appear doubly radiant and twice as beautiful. Floating candles add instant atmosphere to a casual summer table, and with our technique, you can create lots of them in only a couple of hours.
Like little boats, these candles float because of the way they are made. They're flat on the bottom and not too thick, so they won't tip or flip over. The molds for making them are probably residing in your kitchen cabinets right now: Muffin tins, cookie cutters, and tart molds have just the right shapes for the task. Not only that, but they make it easy to turn out dozens of candles at a time. All you have to do is melt the wax, pour it into the baking pans, add the wicks, and set the timer. Before long, you'll have 12, 24, 36, or more little lights to brighten your table (or give as gifts).

Pom pom maker

pompomtut1
This is a tutorial for making pom-poms using your
fingers. This one is a small, two-finger pom-pom
(about 1" in diameter) but you can make bigger ones
by using more fingers. As far as yarn choice, thinner
and softer yarn will make a more pleasing pom-pom.
